So what exactly is a Kardex? Well, most Porsches built after 1980 have their build information on file with Porsche Cars North America. Many people have purchased a pre-owned Porsche, or thinking of purchasing one, but don't have a history about the car. This is a excellent place to start. By simply calling them you can get quite a bit of information about your vehicle.

• List of options

• Engine serial number

• Transaxle serial number

• Point of sale (dealership that originally sold the car)

• Sticker price

• Any warranty work performed

• Any other information on file about the car
  

All of this for free! If you would like this information in writing, that is also available. Just send a copy of your vehicle's registration and a check for $30.00 (I think?) to PCNA. You will receive a really nice certificate of authenticity, about your vehicle, suitable for framing. I think this is a great service for all Porsche owners that we should take advantage of.
